José Mª Blanco

(Barcelona, December 2, 1926 – ib., May 29, 2019) was a Spanish cartoonist.

In his youth, José María Blanco worked in a bank branch.2

In the fifties, he began to collaborate with TBO, as part of a new batch of authors who contributed to renewing the veteran publication.

In 1963 he created his most interesting series, Los Kakikus, about a peculiar African tribe.5 Five years later, he was also in charge of continuing The Ulysses Family, respecting the style of its creator Benejam.4

In 1993, when he retired, he made La Barcelona de Blanco, a collection of illustrations, as well as Christmas greetings, which he distributed annually selflessly among his colleagues.

In 2016, he won the Grand Prize at the Barcelona Comic Fair.
